What’s in your bashment?

I was looking for the Jamie XX remix of Adele’s Rolling In The Deep to play when we DJ at TOBL on Friday, when I came across this refix by The Heatwave who bring mad bashment riddims. I was bored of playing the Jamie XX remix and was reluctantly including in the set as a crowd pleaser. Now I’ve heard this I can’t wait to play it and see people getting silly to it.

Most of our crew at Bestival went to see them and rated them very highly, being particularly impressed by the booty-shakin dancers and the sheer number of rewinds the DJs managed to pull off. Unfortunately I was feeling a bit different and was having a lie down in the tent.

Grooveshark has this new playlist thing…

…. and you can embed it! marvellous. not sure about that colour scheme.

Mini Mix 1

Soi Soi's next set

We’re playing FNFF on the 25th of November 12.30-1.30. We’ll be the ones bringing the riddim!

Mixchart.
Here’s a selection of the best mixes from the past 12 months.
5. Tiga’s 6mix
I chose this as much for the track selection as I did for the host. Tiga was funny and tongue in cheek arrogant. Download it here.
4. 2 bears bestimix
This brings back memories of the glorious sunday we had at Bestival dancing to 2 bears, Julio Bashmore and Joy Orbison in a rollerdisco for 4 hours straight. It’s pretty close to the set they played and a pretty tidy mix as well. There’s no stream unfortunately, but download and enjoy.

3.The Magician Magic Tapes.
Stephen Fasano has been busy since leaving Aeroplane. Not only has he released 16 mix tapes at a rate of more than one a month, he’s cultivated the image of a louche disco dandy and released that Lykkie Li remix. The mixes themselves have defined our disco track selection for the last year, here’s the latest one.

2. Fall on Your Swords DFA radiomix
This is a very fun and mad mix. It includes a sample of a chicken farmer doing Darth Vader’s dying speech, 90s acid-techno, michael caine and an amazing bootleg of Bowie that I am dying to get my hands on.

1. Julio Bashmore - Vice Mix
Although it’s the oldest mix in the list it still sounds as fresh as ever. Just listen.
